The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 8:03 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Richard Neufeld, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fraser, Galvez, Griffin, Lang, MacDonald, Meredith, Mockler, Neufeld, Patterson, Seidman and Wetston (11).
In attendance: Sam Banks, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 10, 2016, the committee continued its study on the effects of transitioning to a low carbon economy. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)
WITNESSES:
Forest Products Association of Canada:
Robert Larocque, Vice President, Climate Change, Environment and Labour;
Kate Lindsay, Director, Environmental Regulations and Conservation Biology.
Mining Association of Canada:
Brendan Marshall, Vice President, Economic and Northern Affairs.
Mr. Larocque made a statement and, with Ms. Lindsay, answered questions.
At 9:02 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:05 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Marshall made a statement and answered questions.
At 10:01 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
