The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 1:32 p.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Serge Joyal, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carignan, P.C., Dalphond, Doyle, Dupuis, Joyal, P.C., Kutcher, Lankin, P.C., MacDonald, McIntyre, Pate and Sinclair (11).
In attendance: Brent Capwell, Maxime Charron-Tousignant and Julian Walker, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 2, 2019, the committee began its examination on the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 17 of Part 4, and in Subdivisions B, C and D of Division 2 of Part 4 of Bill C-97, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2019 and other measures.
