The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Boisvenu, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, MacDonald, Mercer, Runciman and Unger (9).
In attendance: Jed Chong and Nicole Sweeney, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Victor Senna, Procedural Clerk, Senate Committees Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the committee began its examination of Bill S-2, An Act to amend the Motor Vehicle Safety Act and to make a consequential amendment to another Act.

The deputy chair made a statement.
Minister Garneau made a statement and, together with Ms. Benjamin and Mr. Roussel, answered questions.
At 10:32 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:36 a.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Benjamin, Ms. Taschereau, Mr. Langlois and Mr. Roussel answered questions.
At 11:07 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
