The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met in camera this day, at 6:46 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Vernon White, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Demers, Dyck, Munson, Patterson, Raine, Seth, Watt and White (9).

In attendance: Shauna Troniak and Wren Nasr, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 13, 2012, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 31.)

WITNESSES:

Congress of Aboriginal Peoples:

Ron Swain, National Vice-Chief.

Canadian Taxpayers Federation:

Colin Craig, Prairie Director.

Peguis Accountability Coalition:

Phyllis Sutherland, President.

Ms Sutherland, Mr. Swain and Mr. Craig each made a statement and, together, answered questions.

At 8:21 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
