The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 10:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Irving Gerstein, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Black, Campbell, Gerstein, Greene, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Massicotte, Ngo, Ringuette, Rivard and Unger (11).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-202, An Act to amend the Payment Card Networks Act (credit card acceptance fees). (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 12.)

WITNESSES:

Canadian Federation of Independent Business:

Dan Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer (by video conference).

Retail Council of Canada:

Diane J. Brisebois, President and Chief Executive Officer;

Karl Littler, Vice President.

Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters:

Greg Farrant, Manager, Government Affairs and Policy.

Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation:

Darrell Crabbe, Executive Director (by video conference).

BC Wildlife Federation:

Sarah McNeil, Development Coordinator
(by video conference).

The chair made an opening statement.

Ms. Brisebois made a statement and, together with Mr. Littler, answered questions.

Mr. Kelly made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:40 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:45 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Farrant made a statement and answered questions.

Ms. McNeil made a statement and answered questions.

Mr. Crabbe made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
