The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:32 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Callbeck, Chaput, Eaton, Gerstein, Mockler, Rivard and Smith (Saurel) (8).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Mark Palmer, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures. At 10:33 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:34 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Arnishoff and Ms. Todgham Cherniak each made a statement and, together, answered questions.

At 11:01 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:15 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Thomas made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:34 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
