The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day, at 6:45 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Eaton, Hervieux- Payette, P.C., Mockler, Rivard, Smith (Saurel) and Tkachuk (10).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Ogilvie and Eggleton, P.C. (2).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Mark Palmer, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures.
