The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Percy E. Downe, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bovey, Cools, Cordy, Downe, Eaton, Gold, Housakos, Marwah, Ngo, Oh, Saint-Germain and Woo (12).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Pratte (1).

In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Pascal Tremblay, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-30, An Act to implement the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between Canada and the European Union and its Member States and to provide for certain other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No 20.)

Mr. Schiller made a statement and, together with Mr. Broad, Mr. Jones, Ms. Usher, Ms. Kancens, Mr. Le Guellec, Mr. Hohnstein and Mr. Dingwall, answered questions.

At 11:31 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:34 a.m., the committee resumed.

The deputy chair made a statement.

Mr. Forth made a statement and, together with Ms. Lee and Mr. Wilson, answered questions.

At 12:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the deputy chair.
