The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 8:04 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Richard Neufeld, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Galvez, Griffin, MacDonald, Massicotte, Neufeld, Patterson, Richards, Seidman and Wetston (9).

In attendance: Marc LeBlanc and Sam Banks, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 10, 2016, the committee continued its study on the effects of transitioning to a low carbon economy. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)

WITNESSES:

BOMA Canada:

Benjamin L. Shinewald, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Engineers Canada:

David Lapp, Practice Lead, Globalization and Sustainable Development.

Royal Architectural Institute of Canada:

Emmanuelle van Rutten, Regional Director, Ontario North, East and Nunavut;

Bruce Lorimer, Interim Executive Director.

Mr. Shinewald made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:58 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:02 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Lapp and Ms. van Rutten each made a statement and, with Mr. Lorimer, answered questions.

At 10:03 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
