The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Bob Runciman, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Boniface, Dagenais, Dupuis, Gold, McIntyre, Omidvar and Runciman (8).
In attendance: Julian Walker and Maxime Charron-Tousignant, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-305, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (mischief).
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-305, an Act to amend the Criminal Code (mischief).
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1 carry, on division.
It was agreed that clause 2 carry, on division.
It was agreed that the title carry, on division.
It was agreed that the bill carry, on division.
It was agreed that the chair report Bill C-305 to the Senate.
At 4:17 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 11, 2017, the committee continued its consideration of Document entitled Proposals to correct certain anomalies, inconsistencies and errors and to deal with other matters of a non-controversial and uncomplicated nature in the Statutes of Canada and to repeal certain Acts and provisions that have expired, lapsed or otherwise ceased to have effect. It was agreed that the draft report be adopted.
At 4:28 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
