The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 2:04 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Baker, P.C., Cools, Forest, Fraser, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion, Neufeld, Oh, Pratte, Smith and Woo (13).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Massicotte (1).
In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Olivier Leblanc-Laurendeau, analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, the committee began its study of Bill C-44, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2017 and other measures.

The chair made a statement.
The minister made a statement and answered questions.
At 3:45 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 4:18 p.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to study a draft report.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 18, 2017, the committee continued its study on the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 34.)
It was agreed that the staff of the committee members be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.
The committee began its review of the draft report.
It was agreed:
That the draft report, as amended, be adopted;
That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required; and
That the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.
At 4:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
