The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:33 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Gold, Hartling, MacDonald, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine and Ringuette (9).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Chantal Cardinal, Committee Clerk, Committees Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 23, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-238, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (importation of shark fins.) Ms. Bouffard, Mr. Lester, Ms. Caceres and Mr. Jordan answered questions.
At 9:31 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:35 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 10 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
