The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:02 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Jean-Guy Dagenais, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Brazeau, Dagenais, McIntyre, Oh and Richards (5).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Black (1).
In attendance: Daniel McBryde and Constance Naud-Arcand, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 9, 2017, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-23, An Act respecting the preclearance of persons and goods in Canada and the United States. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceeding of the committee, Issue No. 17.)
The deputy chair made a statement.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-23, An Act respecting the preclearance of persons and goods in Canada and the United States.
With leave, it was agreed that the committee group clauses in groups of 10, with the exception of those with an amendment or an observation which could be dealt with individually.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that the preamble stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.
It was agreed that clauses 2 through 10 carry.
It was agreed that clauses 11 through 20 carry.
It was agreed that clauses 21 through 30 carry.
