The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 1:34 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Gwen Boniface, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Boniface, Dagenais, Griffin, Jaffer, McIntyre, Oh, Pratte, Richards and Wallin (10).
In attendance: Christina Yeung, Tanya Dupuis and Ariel Shapiro, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-59, An Act respecting national security matters. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 40.)

The Honourable Jean-Pierre Plouffe made a statement and, together with Ms. Dansereau and Mr. Normand, answered questions.
At 2:26 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:30 p.m., the committee resumed.
The Honourable Pierre Blais made a statement and, together with Ms. Bowers and Mr. Hirsch, answered questions.
At 3:22 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
