Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met in camera by videoconference this day at 2 p.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Dan Christmas, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Coyle, Francis, LaBoucane-Benson, MacDonald, Pate, Patterson and Tannas (8).
Other senator present by videoconference: The Honourable Senator McCallum (1).
In attendance: Maxime Fortin, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate; Sara Fryer and Brittany Collier, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Ben Silverman, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that the committee be authorized to circulate documents in the language they are received, with the translation to follow as soon as possible.
At 2:41 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:59 p.m., the committee resumed in public.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, the committee began its study on matters relating to the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada, as stated in rule 12-7(13).

The chair made a statement.
Ms. Hogan made a statement and, together with Mr. Wheeler, answered questions.
