Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day by videoconference at 2:02 p.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Bovey, Dasko, Forest-Niesing, Frum, Kutcher, Mégie, Mockler, Moodie, Pate, Petitclerc and Simons (12).
Other senator present by videoconference: The Honourable Senator Jaffer (1).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 27, 2021, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-220, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (bereavement leave).
The chair made a statement.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-220.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1 carry.
It was agreed that clause 2 carry.

At 3:18 p.m., the Honourable Senator Mégie replaced the Honourable Senator Pate as a member of the committee.
Ms. Hanson made a statement and, with Ms. Sindhu, answered questions.
