The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Al Zaibak, Boehm, Busson, Coyle, Deacon (Ontario), Gerba, Greene, Harder, P.C., MacDonald, Ravalia and Woo (11).
Participating in the meeting: Brian Hermon and Zachariah Black, analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 13, 2024, the committee began its study of the Government response to the twelfth report of the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, entitled: “More than a Vocation: Canada’s Need for a 21st Century Foreign Service”, deposited with the Clerk of the Senate on December 6, 2023.
WITNESSES:

David Morrison, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs;
Antoine Chevrier, Chief Transformation Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister, Transformation Team Bureau;
Vera Alexander, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, People and Talent Management.
David Morrison made a statement and, together with Antoine Chevrier and Vera Alexander, answered questions.
At 5:42 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
