The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:30 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Robert Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Cotter, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Gold, P.C., Klyne, Oh, Petitclerc, Plett, Sorensen and Tannas (10).

Participating in the meeting: Offah Obale, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-235, An Act respecting the building of a green economy in the Prairies.

Prairies Economic Development Canada:

Anoop Kapoor, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Strategic Direction;

Matthew Whitson, Senior Advisor, Advocacy and Partnerships (by videoconference).

The Honourable Bronwyn Eyre and Anoop Kapoor each made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:20 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
