The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:33 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Robert Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Cotter, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Jaffer, Klyne, Martin, Petitclerc and Simons (8).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Burey (1).

Participating in the meeting: Offah Obale, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the committee continued its study of the status of soil health in Canada.

Natural Resources Canada:

Dominic St-Pierre, Director General, Laurentian Forestry Centre (by videoconference).

Gilles Saindon and Dominic St-Pierre each made a statement and, together with Marco Valicenti, Edward G. Gregorich and Heather McNairn, answered questions.

At 8:17 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
