The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 11:31 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Clement, Cotter, Dalphond, Dupuis, Klyne and Pate (7).
Participating in the meeting: Annie Trudel, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Julian Walker and Michaela Keenan-Pelletier, analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-205, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to another Act (interim release and domestic violence recognizance orders).
WITNESSES:

Martine Jeanson;
Khaoula Grissa;
Dayane Williams.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absences of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Cotter moved that the Honourable Senator Dalphond be the acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The acting chair took the chair.
At 11:35 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:48 a.m., the committee resumed.
Martine Jeanson, Khaoula Grissa and Dayane Williams each made a statement and answered questions.
At 12:54 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
