The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 11:34 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Boisvenu, Clement, Cotter, Dalphond, Dupuis, Klyne and Pate (8).

Participating in the meeting: Julian Walker and Michaela Keenan-Pelletier, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-205, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to another Act (interim release and domestic violence recognizance orders).

At 11:36 p.m., the Honourable Senator Dalphond took the chair.

Vince Morelli, Peter Marshall and Brian Simpson each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:34 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:38 p.m., the committee resumed.

Emilie Coyle, Diane Tremblay, Mary E. Campbell and Scott Newark each made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
