The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the deputy chair, the Honourable Éric Forest, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Forest, Kingston, Loffreda, MacAdam, Marshall, Pate, Ross and Smith (8).

Participating in the meeting: Shaowei Pu and André Léonard, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 9, 2024, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of all of Bill C-69, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 16, 2024.

WITNESSES:

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada:

Andre Arbour, Director General, Telecommunications and Internet Policy Branch;

Marc-André Rochon, Senior Director, Spectrum and Telecommunications Sector.

Transport Canada:

Natalie Dolan, Executive Director, Policy, High Frequency Rail.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation:

Nadine Leblanc, Interim Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President, Policy;

Babak Mahmoudi Ayough, Advisor, Housing Policy and Research.

Financial Consumer Agency of Canada:

Werner Liedtke, Interim Commissioner, Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Commissioner, Corporate Services;

Rana Abu-Naameh, Director General, Supervision;

Stephanie Duhaime, Director, Program and Policy Innovation.

Andre Arbour, Natalie Dolan, Nadine Leblanc and Werner Liedtke each made a statement and, together with Marc-André Rochon, answered questions.

At 10:56 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
