The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:02 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Forest, Galvez, Gignac, Loffreda, MacAdam, Marshall, Mockler, Pate and Smith (10).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Martin (1).

Participating in the meeting: Shaowei Pu and André Léonard, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 8, 2023, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-241, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (deduction of travel expenses for tradespersons).

WITNESS:

Chris Lewis, Member of Parliament for Essex, sponsor of the bill.

Chris Lewis made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:04 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
