The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 4 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable René Cormier, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Clement, Cormier, Dagenais, Gold, P.C., Mégie, Mockler and Moncion (7).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Gerba and Seidman (2).

Participating in the meeting: Marie-Ève Hudon, analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 1, 2023, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Official Languages Act, to enact the Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act and to make related amendments to other Acts.
