How do you feel about working at the Senate?
I very much enjoy working for the Senate, specifically within the Human Resources Directorate. Not only is it a great job, but I also appreciate the work schedule flexibility that comes with it. Working here allows me to gain a vast array of practical work experience in a professional office setting. What I am learning on the job will be beneficial to me not only in my professional career but also in my everyday life.
What is the best thing about working at the Senate?
The best thing about working at the Senate is the learning experience which comes with the job. Even though you are doing an assortment of administrative tasks, you are still learning with every task you complete.
What has been your greatest contribution to date?
My greatest contribution to date would be hard to pinpoint. Every contribution feels significant. However the contribution which stands out for me is having participated on the scent-free work environment initiative. My contribution consisted of doing some research on the topic and finding subject-appropriate posters to best deliver the message to the organization as a whole.
What has the Senate given you?
Working at the Senate has given me the opportunity to learn about working in a public service environment, to network with people within my field of study, and the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of basic administrative tasks and of working in a professional setting, all of which can be applied to my professional, academic and personal life.
Would you consider the Senate as a potential employer following your studies? Why?
Without any doubt in my mind I would consider the Senate as a potential employer following my studies. I am very grateful to have this job and recognize how having a job at the Senate could benefit my career. For example, the ability to meet people in various fields of expertise, improve my computer skills and gain valuable work experience.
