The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 9:04 a.m., in public, for the consideration of administrative matters; and in camera for the consideration of administrative and other matters.
Senator Leo Housakos (Chair) in the chair.
[English]
The Chair: Honourable senators, the first part of this meeting is the public portion. We'll get right into Item No. 1, which is the adoption of the minutes of the June 4 meeting.
Senator Tkachuk: So moved.
The Chair: Moved by Senator Tkachuk.
The second item is the fifteenth report of the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets.
[Translation]
Senator L. Smith: Honourable senators, it is my honour to present the fifteenth report of the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets, setting out the proposed expenditures of the Committee on Human Rights.
[English]
Your subcommittee met the chair, deputy chair and the third member of steering for Human Rights, whose budget application contained proposed expenditures for graphic design for the production of their report on the Hague Abductions Convention and cross-border family disputes.
As always, we wanted to be sure that the committee had clear objectives for this genre of expenditure and that the strategy would effectively reach its intended audience. We were impressed by the committee's plans.
For the budget application from Human Rights, the recommended allocation is $1,000. If the requested amount is granted in full, this will mean that a total of $275,406 will have been approved for release this fiscal year.
I would submit this report as the fifteenth report of the committee. Are there any questions, honourable senators?
The Chair: Do I have a motion to adopt the report? Moved by Senator Marshall.
Now we will go in camera.
(The committee continued in camera.)
