The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 12:17 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Mockler, Rivard, Smith (Saurel) and Wallace (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Alex Smith, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, the committee began its study on the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

WITNESSES:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Brian Pagan, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Renée LaFontaine, Assistant Secretary, Corporate Services Sector.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Pagan made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:40 p.m., the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).

At 1:41 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
