The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Campbell, Gerstein, Manning, Marshall, Mitchell, Mockler, Neufeld and Smith (Saurel) (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Alex Smith, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, January27, 2016, the committee began its examination of such issues as may arise from time to time relating to federal estimates generally, including the public accounts, reports of the Auditor General and government finance.

WITNESS:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Brian Pagan, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Pagan made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed to adopt the draft of the second report, prepared pursuant to rule 12-26(2).

At 11:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
