The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met in camera this day at 9:34 a.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The honourable senators Bellemare, Campbell, Lang, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld and Smith (Saurel) (7).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the committee continued its examination of Supplementary Estimates (C) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for the in camera meeting.

The committee began its examination of a draft report.

It was agreed that the draft report, as amended, be adopted;

That, for the purpose of tabling it in the Senate, the draft be divided so as to constitute two distinct reports, one of them on the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2015-2016 and the other on the Main Estimates 2016-2017;

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to approve the final version of the reports by taking today's discussions into account, and by making any change deemed necessary either to form, grammar or translation.

It was agreed that the chair be authorized to table the reports in the Senate as soon as possible.

At 11:23 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
