The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Art Eggleton, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bernard, Cordy, Dean, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Mégie, Omidvar, Petitclerc, Poirier, Raine and Seidman (11).
In attendance: Shaila Anwar, Clerk of the Committee; Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 9, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-36, An Act to amend the Statistics Act.

Ivan Fellegi, Former Chief Statistician of Canada.

Sarah Paquet, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategy;

The chair made a statement.
Mr. Fellegi and Mr. Smith each made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:29 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:33 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Parker made a statement and, together with Mr. Thuppal, answered questions.
At 12:21 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
