The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal People, met at 9:45 a.m., this day, in Room 520, Victoria Building, the Honourable Raynell Andreychuk, Deputy-Chair presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Andreychuk, Bonnell and Pearson.(4)

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jill Wherrett.

WITNESSES:

From the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development Canada:

Mr. Hiram Beaubier, Director General, Natural Resources and Environment Branch;

John Hodgkinson, Chief, Mining Legislation & Resource Management Division;

Gilbert Groulx, legal Advisor, Legal Services.

Mr. Beaubier made a statement and answered questions.

The Honourable Senator Bonnell moved -- that, the Committee dispense with the clause by clause study of the Bill.

The question being put on the motion, it was -- Resolved in the affirmative.

The Honourable Senator Pearson moved -- that the Bill be reported back to the Senate without amendment.

The question being put on the motion, it was -- Resolved in the affirmative.

At 10:26 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
