The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal People, met at 9:30 a.m., this day, in Room 172-E, Centre Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Anderson, Andreychuk, Beaudoin, Gigantès, Lewis, Milne, Pearson, Tkachuk, Twinn and Watt.(11)
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Petten.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jill Wherrett.
The Acting Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.
The Honourable Senator Watt moved, -- That Senator Pearson be elected Chair of the committee.
The question being put on the motion -- it was resolved in the affirmative.
Senator Pearson made a statement.
The committee proceeded to study its future business.
At 9:45 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
