The Subcommittee on Boreal Forest met at 4:00 p.m. this day, in Room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Doris Anderson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Spivak and Taylor (3).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer; Media Relations Officer of the Subcommittee: Barbara Robson.

Also in attendance: The Official Reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and future of forestry in Canada: study of the Boreal Forest.

WITNESS:

From Natural Resources Canada:

Mr. Michael J. Apps, Senior Research Scientist, Canadian Forest Service.

Mr. Apps made a presentation and answered questions.

At 5:50 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
