The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 5:15 p.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Tkachuk, Bolduc, Bosa, Cools, De Bané, Forest, Lavoie-Roux and Mercier (8)

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament, Research Branch: Guy Beaumier.

Also in attendance: The Official Reporters of the Senate.

WITNESS:

From the Treasury Board of Canada:

David Miller, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector.

Pursuant to it is Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, the ccommittee examined the expenditures set out in the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1997.

Mr. Miller made opening remarks and answered questions.

The Honourable Senator Bosa moved that the Chair presents the committee's report on Supplementary Estimates (B), 1996-97 to the Senate.

The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.

At a later date, Treasury Board will provide written responses to the questions asked by the Honourable Senators Bosa, Lavoie-Roux and Tkachuk.

At 6:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
