The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met at 8:30 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Kenny presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, Cochrane, Kenny, Milne, Nolin, Rompkey, and Wood. (7)

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate and other Senate officials.

It was agreed that the committee proceed in camera.

At 10:00 a.m., the committee proceeded in public.

In attendance: Mr. Paul BJlisle, Clerk of the Senate and other Senate officials.

Approval of the Minutes of Proceedings of the April 17, 1997 meeting, 97-04-24/121

It was agreed that the public minutes of the April 17, 1997 meeting be approved and that Senator Wood be provided with the transcripts of the public portion of the meeting.

Senate Pins, 97-04-24/122

It was agreed that all senators be canvassed as to the choice of the new Senate Pins.

Budget of Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations for fiscal year 1997-98, 97-04-24/123

It was agreed that the following budget be approved for the Scrutiny of Regulations Committee (Senate share).

Professional and other services $94,781 Miscellaneous 5,400 Total $100,181

Joint Inter-Parliamentary Associations Issues, 97-04-24/124

It was agreed that additional funding for Parliamentary Associations of $125,000 for 1997-98 be allocated by the Joint Interparliamentary Council and that this be funded by a supplementary estimate.

Request for the Library of Parliament for Souvenir Boutique for Room 256-S and space in the East Block, 97-04-24/125

It was agreed that permission be granted for the use of Room 256-S and the North Entrance of the West Wing in the East Block for the use of a souvenir boutique during the election and until Parliament resumes.

At 10:20 a.m. the committees adjourned to the call of the Chair.
