The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met at 10:10 a.m. this day in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Watt, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Austin, P.C., Chalifoux, Gill, Johnson, Mahovlich, Pearson and Watt (7).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Maheu.
In attendance: Research staff of the committee: Konrad Sioui, First Nations Specialist.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:

Fred Martin, Ackroyd, Piasta, Roth and Day.
Alberta Métis Settlements:
Ken Noskey, President of the General Council.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 9, 1997, the committee continued its examination of Aboriginal self-government ( see Issue No. 11, Tuesday, November 3, 1998 for full text of the Order of Reference).
Mr. Fred Martin made an opening statement and, together with Mr. Ken Noskey, answered questions.
At 11:25 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
