The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry has the honour to table its
FIRST REPORT
Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such legislation and other matters as were referred to it, reports, pursuant to rule 104, that the expenses of the committee during the Second Session of the Thirty-fifth Parliament were as follows:
A. With respect to its special study on the future of agriculture in Canada:

Witness Expenses $ 835.85

B. With respect to its special study on the future of forestry in Canada:
Professional Services $26,715.75
Transportation $29,473.11
Witness Expenses $ 864.89

In the course of the Second Session of the Thirty-fifth Parliament, your committee held fifteen meetings and heard twenty-two witnesses. Your committee considered three Government public bills (C-60, C-34 and C-38). In addition, your committee conducted a fact finding visit of the prairie provinces in relation to its study of the boreal forest. Further, your committee travelled to Washington, D.C. to meet with congressional colleagues, non-governmental organizations and department officials.
