The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent) and Stratton (2).
In attendance: June Dewetering and Frédéric Forge, Research Officers, Research Branch, Library of Parliament; Dave Newman, Newman Communications.
Pursuant to its order of reference to study the Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBST) and its effect on the human and animal health safety aspects.
It was agreed, -- That the draft report on "rBST and the Drug Approval Process", as amended, be approved.
It was agreed, -- That the Chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate.
It was agreed, -- That a press briefing be arranged for 3:30 p.m., March 11, 1999.
It was agreed, -- To publish the decisions of this in camera meeting.
At 11:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

It was agreed, -- That the budget from the subcommittee on Boreal forest be adopted and brought to Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration for approval.
Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of the effect of international trade issues on farm income.
Mr. Bob Friesen made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed to refer written questions to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture for response.
The committee proceeded in camera for the purpose of discussing future business.
At 10:40 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
