The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 705-VB, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Fairbairn, P.C., Gustafson, Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Rossiter, Sparrow, Spivak, Stratton, Taylor and Whelan, P.C. (10).

Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of the effect of international trade issues on farm income.

The Honourable Lyle Vanclief made an opening statement and, together with officials, answered questions.

It was ordered, -- That a document entitled AIDA -- Why Should You Apply? be filed as an exhibit (Exhibit 5900 A2/SS-1, 37 "3").

At 4:40 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
