The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 705, Victoria Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fairbairn P.C., Rossiter, Spivak, and Stratton (4).
In attendance: June Dewetering, Research Officer, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate

From the Western Barley Growers Association:
Mr. Greg Rockafellow, President;
Mr. Leo Meyer, Vice-President.
From the Canadian Oilseed Processors Association:
Mr. Robert Broeska, President.
From the Canadian Canola Growers Association:
Wayne Bacon.
Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of the effect of international trade issues on farm income.
The Clerk informed the Committee of the unavoidable absence of the Chair and Deputy Chair.
Pursuant to rule 11, the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the acting Chair.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Stratton -- That the Honourable Senator Fairbairn be Acting Chair of the Committee for this meeting. -- Agreed.
The witnesses made statements and, together, answered questions.
At 10:55 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
