The subcommittee of the Boreal Forest of the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 5:00 p.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Nicholas W. Taylor, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Robichaud, P.C., Spivak and Taylor (4).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Atkins, Chalifoux, DeWare and Whelan (4).
In attendance: Ms Lynne Myers, Research Officer, Library of Parliament. Mr. David Newman, Communications Adviser.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference adopted in the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry on February 19, 1998, the subcommittee commenced its study to inquire into issues related to the harvest of the Boreal Forest and other matters relating to forestry which may referred to it from time to time by the committee. (See Issue No. 1, February 19, 1998, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

From the Teslin, Tlinget Tribal Council:
Mr. Hugh Taylor, Director, Lands and Resources;
Ms Blanche Warrington, Manager, Renewable Resources.
The Chairman made an opening statement and introduced senators in attendance.
Ms Jim-Cant made a presentation and answered questions.
Mr. Bombay made a presentation and answered questions.
Ms Higgins made a presentation and answered questions.
At 6:30 p.m., the subcommittee suspended its meeting.
At 6:55 p.m., the subcommittee resumed its meeting.
Ms. Warrington made a presentation and answered questions.
Mr. Taylor made a presentation and with Ms Higgins answered questions.
At 8:03 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned.
