The Subcommittee on Canada's Emergency and Disaster Preparedness met at 9:05 a.m. this day in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Stratton, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Cook, Ferretti Barth, and Stratton (3).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance on Wednesday, March 24, 1999, the subcommittee continued its examination of disaster and emergency readiness and preparedness in Canada and matters related to National Defence expenditures, as set out in the Main Estimates 1999-2000.
Mr. Armour of the United Way made a statement and answered questions.
Major Hollman of the Salvation Army made a statement and answered questions.
Mr. Wagler of the Mennonite Disaster Service made a statement and answered questions.
At 10:35 a.m., the subcommittee suspended its sitting.
At 10:55 a.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
