The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 8:35 a.m. this day, the Chair, the Honourable Ronald D. Ghitter, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Buchanan, Butts, Chalifoux, Fitzpatrick, Ghitter, Gustafson, Hays, Losier-Cool and Maloney (10).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Cook (1).
In attendance: Lynne Myers from the Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
APPEARING:

The committee, in compliance with its Order of Reference dated Monday, June 15, 1998 proceeded to examine Bill C-29, An Act to establish the Parks Canada Agency and to amend other Acts as a consequence. (See Proceedings of the committee dated October 6, 1998, 9:00a.m. for full text of Order of Reference )
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Fitzpatrick -- That Bill C-29, An Act to establish the Parks Canada Agency and to amend other Acts as a consequence, be adopted without amendment but with observations, and reported to the Senate as the Fourth Report of the committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was Resolved in the affirmative.
At 8:45 a.m., the committee recessed.
At 9:00 a.m., the committee resumed its work.
The committee, in compliance with its Order of Reference dated Wednesday, June 17, 1998 proceeded to examine Bill C-38, An Act to amend the national Parks Act (creation of Tuktut Nogait National Park).
Mr. McNamee made an opening statement and answered questions.
Ms Cournoyea made a statement and, together with Mr. Green, answered questions.
The Honourable Andy Mitchell made a statement and, together with Mr. Amos, answered questions.
It was agreed -- That more witnesses be called before the committee concerning Bill C-38.
At 12:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
