The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 9:05 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Ronald D. Ghitter, presiding.
Members of the committee presents: The Honourable Senators Adams, Butts, Comeau, Fairbairn, P.C., Fitzpatrick, Ghitter, Gustafson, Hays, Kenny, St. Germain, P.C., Stratton and Taylor (12).
In attendance: Jean-Luc Bourdage from the Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The committee, in compliance with its Order of Reference dated Wednesday, June 17, 1998 proceeded to examine Bill C-38, An Act to amend the National Parks Act (creation of Tuktut Nogait National Park) (See proceedings of the committee dated October 20, 1998, for full text of Order of Reference.)
Mr. Andrews and Mr. Comba each made opening statements and answered questions.
At 10:30 a.m., the committee took a five minutes recess.
Ms Granskou and Mr. Peepre each made statements and answered questions.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Taylor -- That the committee proceed to clause-by-clause study of Bill C-38.
After debate, the Honourable Senator Taylor withdrew the motion, with leave.
It was agreed -- That the committee hear more witnesses on Bill C-38, December 1, 1998.
At 12:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
