The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chairman, the Honourable Terrance R. Stratton, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Cools, Forest, Kinsella, Mercier, Sparrow and Stratton (7).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From Treasury Board Secretariat:

Mr. Rick Neville, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector; and

Mr. Andrew Lieff, Assistant Director, Estimates Division, Expenditures Management Sector.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 18, 1998, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998.

The witnesses from the Treasury Board Secretariat answered questions.

It was moved by Senator Cools -- That the Chairman be authorized to present a report to the Senate containing the comments and concerns of the committee with regards to its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998.

At 12:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
