The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 10:45 a.m. this day, in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Stratton, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Butts, Callbeck, Carstairs, Cools, De Bané, P.C., DeWare, Lavoie-Roux, Stratton and Moore (10).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 10, 1999, the committee began its examination of Bill C-43, An Act to establish the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency and to amend and repeal other Acts as a consequence.

Mr. Dave Flinn from the Union of Taxation Employees made a statement and answered questions.
Mr. Steve Hindle from the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada made a statement and, with Ms Dorion, answered questions.
At 1:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
