The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 10:45 a.m. this day, in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Stratton, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Stratton, Carstairs, Cook, Cools, Ferretti Barth, Lavoie-Roux, Mahovlich and Tkachuk (8).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 10, 1999, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-43, to establish the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency and to amend and repeal other Acts as a consequence.

Mr. Robinson of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation made a statement and answered questions.
Messrs Spindler and Badali and Ms McMillan made a statement and answered questions.
