The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this day at 9:05 a.m. in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Gerald Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Butts, Comeau, Jessiman, Losier-Cool, Meighen, Perrault, P.C., and Stewart (8).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Emery.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:
From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans:
Mr. Marshall Moffat, Director, Economic Analysis, Economic and Policy Analysis Directorate; and
Mr. Aaron Sarna, Director, Multilateral Relations Division, International Affairs Directorate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 19, 1997, the committee resumed its examination upon the questions of privatization and quota licensing in Canada's fisheries. (See Proceedings of the Committee dated November 27, 1997, Issue No. 2.)
Mr. Moffat made an opening statement and, with Mr. Sarna, answered questions.
At 10:20 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera.
At 10:50 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Dr. K.F. Drinkwater.
