The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this day at 9:05 a.m. in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Raymond J. Perrault, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Butts, Cook, Comeau, Meighen, Perrault, P.C., and Stewart (7).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Emery.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
At 9:05 a.m. the committee proceeded to consider future business in camera.
At 9:10 a.m. the committee proceeded in public with the first item on its agenda.
WITNESSES:
From the Fisheries Resource Conservation Council:
Mr. Fred Woodman, Chair;
Dr. Jean-Claude Brêthes, Vice-Chair.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 19, 1997, the committee resumed its examination upon the questions of privatization and quota licensing in Canada's fisheries (see Proceedings of the Committee dated November 27, 1997, Issue No. 2).
Mr. Woodman and Dr. Brêthes made statements and answered questions.
At 10:45 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
