The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this day at 4:20 p.m. in Room
505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Butts, Cook,
Comeau, Perrault, P.C., Robichaud, P.C., (Saint-Louis-de-Kent)
and Stewart (7).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude
Emery.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From the Pacific Black Cod Fishermen's Association:

Mr. Bruce Turris, Executive Director.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 19, 1997,
the committee resumed its examination upon the questions of privatization and
quota licensing in Canada's fisheries. (See proceedings of the committee dated
November 27, 1997, Issue No. 2, for complete text of Order of Reference
.)

Ms Isabella Jordan, Account Executive of ADCOM, provided a demonstration of
the videoconferencing technology.

Mr. Turris made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:00 p.m., the committee proceeded to consider future business in camera.

At 6:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
